Craniosacral Therapy

This is an amazing yet very subtle technique that continues to help people with very little physical manipulation. Although it is beyond words to describe exactly how this form of bodywork is performed, I can point to its origins. Craniosacral work is based on the system that William Garner Sutherland discovered while studying osteopathy at the beginning of the 20th century. Since then it has been scientifically proven that the bones of the cranium are, in fact, active structures that are both independent and connected. Each of the osseous structures are directed by cerebro-spinal fluid that has its own dynamic cycle which is felt as a pulse. This pulse is between 6-10 cycles per minute and is not driven by either the circulatory pulse or respiration. If these bones are stuck or stagnant and are not flowing with the craniosacral pulse then “dis-ease” will arise. The series of techniques that I have learned, when used in harmony with a deep listening, can free these places of stagnation.
